WHAT: MoboGoGlobo! It’s a mobile-orienteering event, for teams of two, where a runner is guided through an orienteering course without a map, only aided by the instructions of his/her teammate over the phone.

WHEN: The event start window is from 18:00-20:00 GMT (10:00am-12:00pm local time in Seattle) on March 5th, 2011.

WHERE: Lincoln Park, Seattle, USA... and anywhere else you happen to be calling from!

WHO: Anyone in the world can participate! If you're local to Seattle you can be a runner. If you live anywhere else in the world, you can be a remote navigator over the phone. We'll electronically provide the maps!

HOW: Teams can be formed in three ways:

1) Give Me A Buddy. If you live in Seattle and want to meet a new orienteering friend, or if you’re a global navigator and don’t know anyone in Seattle, sign up and we will arrange a team for you! Pre-registration is required by Wednesday, March 2nd. Team pairings and start times swill be provided on Thursday, March 3rd, and a map will be provided electronically to the global teammate on Friday, March 4th.

2) Call A Buddy. If you’re in Seattle, call up a remote teammate for the event. Or, if you live elsewhere, call up a friend in Seattle). The local teammate runs the entire MoboGoGlobo! course, and the global teammate navigates over the phone. Pre-registration is required by Wednesday, March 2nd. A start time will be provided on Thursday, March 3rd, and a map will be provided electronically to the global teammate on Friday, March 4th. You are responsible for organizing your own team.

3) Bring A Buddy. If you’re in Seattle, bring your own teammate to the event. Each teammate runs one half of the MoboGoGlobo! course, and navigates over the phone for the other half. Pre-registration is not required. Maps and a start time will be provided at the event. You are responsible for organizing your own team.

WHY: Proceeds from this event will benefit WIOL, the Washington Interscholastic Orienteering League. It's for a good cause! Funds raised from this event help send our local juniors to the US Interscholastic Orienteering Champs!
